Colin Baines, Head of Technical Skills and Development, recently accepted the award from Technicians Make it Happen at a ceremony in York
The award was in recognition of our University’s ongoing commitment and positive progress to ensuring visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability of our technical skills and roles, reflecting the ongoing work of Manchester's Technical Commitment Leadership Group and associated teams.
The award was presented by Professor Sally Bradley, Senior Advisor (Professional Learning and Development), Advance HE, to Colin Baines during the Technician Commitment Signatory event in York on 15 June 2022.
Colin said: “I was exceptionally pleased to accept this award on behalf of our University – our Technical Services teams perform a fantastic role supporting colleagues across a wide range of disciplines. They deserve the visibility and recognition this brings.”
Our University was a founding signatory of the Technician Commitment, which now boasts 91 members. The Commitment aims to ensure visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability for technicians working in higher education and research, across all disciplines.
