Applications are invited from academic, academic related or research staff or postgraduate students of The University of Manchester for Residential Assistant Warden and Tutor posts available in various residences through out the University residential campus areas.
Assistant Wardens and Tutors work as part of the welfare support team in each residence. Duties include assisting in the pastoral care of residents, working with the Residents Association and helping to foster a community spirit. Both Assistant Wardens and Tutors will be required to be on call during the night and at weekends at regular intervals.
Assistant Wardens take leading roles in the Pastoral team and will be required to deputise for the Warden. It is hoped that applicants for the post of assistant warden can exhibit in their application previous experience of pastoral care provision.
Applicants should be sociable and interested in student affairs. They should also be able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills and experience of team-working.
Remuneration is given to Tutors in the form of free accommodation. Tutors residing in catered halls are expected to pay for the meal charges applicable for their hall of residence.
Assistant Wardens in catered residences receive free accommodation and meals. Assistant Wardens in self-catered residences receive free accommodation and an honorarium of £1367. Posts are available from 1st September 2007 and appointments are for one year in the first instance.
