Measuring the carbon impact of commuting
Every two years our University, in line with higher education sector guidance, calculates our carbon footprint from staff and student commuting, providing valuable insight and helping us work towards our carbon commitments.
In order to do this an online survey is being carried out to capture anonymous travel information to build up a picture of the breadth of journeys taking place, how this impacts on the environment and areas for improvement.
A selected sample of staff will receive an email from the Environmental Sustainability Team inviting them to complete the travel survey using Qualtrics (the University’s preferred survey tool). The survey should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete, and is being undertaken by TPS Transport Consultants Ltd. on behalf of the University.
No individual responses will be identified in the analysis and your details will not be passed on to any third parties. The data will only be shared between The University of Manchester and TPS Transport Consultants Ltd. All postcode data recorded will be utilised solely for emissions calculations, analysis and reporting purposes.
Students have had the opportunity to participate in the survey from 3 May.
Staff will be invited to participate from 18 May until 9 June 2022.
