Celebrating National Day for Staff Networks
28 Apr 2022
Have you thought about joining a Staff Network Group?
Any member of staff can join and participate in any of our Staff Network Groups and can attend up to four meetings per year plus an associated activity from their standard working hours.
Staff networks
There are currently 20 groups under the Staff Network Group umbrella and there is something that everyone can be involved with – each network is open to any member of staff – maybe you identify directly with the group, or maybe you want to learn more to be able to support a friend, family member or colleague.
Network groups are also a fantastic way to gain new skills, contribute to personal development in areas that may not be accessible in your day job, and are a way to make important and long-lasting connections with colleagues. They form an important part of our University’s Strategic Plan and are core to Our People/Our Values.
The groups also have an official EDI forum where they can feed up suggestions, issues and contributions to the EDI Committee . Alongside this structure, four staff networks (BAME Staff Network, Disabled Staff Network, LGBT+ ALLOUT Network, Women’s Network) now have allocated Senior Executive Sponsors. The involvement of senior leaders in Staff Network Groups is in response to feedback from colleagues gathered in 2021 and 2022.
National Day for Staff Networks
On Wednesday, 11 May we will mark National Day for Staff Networks and over lunchtime staff will have the opportunity to visit our celebratory stall, pick up resources, sign up to our mailing lists, and speak to our Staff Network Chairs in Café Benugo, by the entrance to the Simon Building.
You can come along and find out more about the work the different groups do, activities that they are involved in and how you can participate in any of their work.
No registration needed – just come along anytime between 11.30am – 1:30pm and see what you can learn.
