Neurodiversity
It is Neurodiversity Celebration Week, a worldwide initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. The purpose is to help the world to understand, value and celebrate the talents of neurodiverse minds. It is estimated that around 1 in 7 people are neurodivergent. It has a wide spectrum that covers a range of hidden neurological conditions, such as but not limited to Autism Spectrum, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Tourette’s and social anxiety. For some people, their neurodiversity can mean that they are better at some things than many other people and for others additional support or adjustments are required. Our Disability Advisory Support Service (DASS) is available for any staff who may need support or adjustments to achieve their best in the workplace.
Autism Week
DASS is also running an Autism Week and there are a number of upcoming bookable events:
- Beyond reasonable adjustments: constructing autistic inclusive environments Tickets, Mon 4 Apr 2022 at 18:00 | Eventbrite
- It’s hip to be square: the highs and lows of being an autistic academic Registration, Wed 6 Apr 2022 at 16:00 | Eventbrite
