Our current sick pay provision for Teaching Assistants is to be enhanced
From Semester 1 of academic year 2022-23, our current sick pay provision for our Teaching Assistants (TAs) is to be enhanced. This arrangement will align with entitlement that other staff groups at our University benefit from.
At present, provision is limited to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) in cases where TAs are eligible. Since September 2020, our University has provided temporary sick pay provision where absence relates to COVID-19. This temporary provision expires at the end of Semester 2.
This change follows our discussion with the University and College Union (UCU), and ensures that our University remains sector-leading in its pay and employment conditions for TAs.
