Manchester Gold Staff Mentoring Programme
15 Mar 2022
Call for mentors and mentees
The University staff mentoring programme ‘Manchester Gold’ is now open for applications. The closing date is Tuesday, 12 April.
Manchester Gold aims to support staff development across the University by linking them with the support of a more experienced colleague. The programme has been running for over 16 years, and in this time has facilitated over 900 mentoring matches.
This year for the first time, we will be inviting our University Alumni to be mentors on the programme enabling colleagues to be matched with a mentor from outside of the University. In addition, this year we have worked with the EDI team to offer mentoring for colleagues of minority or protected groups, on their experiences working at the University.
Sign up as a mentor
If you think you could support another colleague with their development, please consider signing up to be a mentor. In 2021 we had 50% more mentee applications; your mentor application will enable us to match as many mentees as possible. We are seeking mentors from all roles, levels and areas of the University, but we would particularly from the following groups as we have experienced a shortfall in applications in previous years:
- Mentors in senior leadership roles (academic and PS)
- Mentors in technical roles
- Mentors in research-focussed roles
- Mentors from Central PS directorates
