Key milestone allowing students to study beyond disciplinary boundaries
The University College for Interdisciplinary Learning (UCIL) which offers our students the opportunity to study beyond the disciplinary boundaries of their degree, has hit a key milestone by achieving 3,183 student enrolments. Over 1,000 of whom were enrolled onto bespoke online units.
These credit-bearing, interdisciplinary course units are available to all undergraduates with a free choice. Units bridge disciplines, focussing on global issues and societal challenges, and are delivered by teams of academics, with cross-disciplinary groups of students working together to contribute their own perspectives and ideas.
The team has also launched a new taster unit ‘Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: Your Role in Shaping a Fairer World.’ This online unit gives all students across the University, a chance to explore the concepts of privilege, dominance, and power, to help raise their self-awareness and enhance their inclusive leadership potential.
These and other new ventures will enable the University’s UCIL units to be explored and enjoyed by a much wider audience.
