Rescheduled graduation ceremonies: March - April 2022
08 Mar 2022
At Whitworth Hall from Monday, 21 March to Friday, 8 April 2022
These ceremonies are for graduates who were unable to attend their graduation ceremonies due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Schedule of ceremonies
The schedule of ceremonies is now live and we have emailed graduates with links to the schedule and information on how to register for their preferred ceremony.
For these rescheduled ceremonies, graduates will have the option to choose which of their School’s ceremonies they would like to attend. The ceremonies are organised by School, rather than degree cohort.
Ceremonies are open to all graduates whose ceremonies were postponed in 2020 or 2021. Graduates from both years will be in each ceremony.
If demand for two consecutive ceremonies is low, they may be merged and will start at the later time. (For example, if demand is low for a day’s 2pm and 4pm ceremonies, they may be merged and will start at 4pm.)
Registering for a ceremony
Registration for these ceremonies will open Wednesday, 16 February 2022 and close at 11.59pm GMT on Friday, 4 March 2022.
We will send the registration link to graduates via email later this week. The registration link will also be available on our graduation website.
Alternative option for those who can’t make it
We want as many of our graduates as possible to have the opportunity to celebrate their achievements on campus.
Most graduates have told us that they will celebrate with us in March or April. Our March and April ceremonies will provide the very best graduation experience and chance to celebrate. However, we know that some graduates will not be able to attend due to holiday/annual leave entitlement and/or being unable to travel to the UK.
If someone cannot attend for these reasons, they will be able to register their interest in attending an event which will be held in July 2022 once registration opens.
Details of these event(s) are to be confirmed. They will not be traditional ceremonies like our March and April ceremonies, however all graduates will be able to walk across the Whitworth Hall stage, wear academic dress (robes) and have photographs taken.
Any event(s) in July will not be organised by School, Faculty or graduation year. This means graduates may not be in the same event as classmates or friends.
Graduation website
We will be keeping our graduation website up to date with all the latest information around these ceremonies.
We are currently confirming the finer details around the rescheduled graduations and will be updating the website this week with information for graduates on how to prepare for their graduation, what to expect on the day and further detail on the ceremonies. The communication today (15 February) was issued ahead of finalising these FAQs to give graduates as much notice as possible of the schedule of ceremonies.
