Shaping our People and OD strategy

02 Mar 2022

Have your voice heard and share your ideas as we create our new strategy

Adèle Mackinlay

Dear colleagues,

Since joining the University in September 2021 I have had the privilege of meeting with, and listening to, many colleagues.  From most of you I’ve heard a real sense of pride in being part of our University community, as well as plenty of ideas for making things better.

This is great encouragement as we begin to put together our new People and OD strategy which will be essential to delivering the ‘Our people our values’ theme which lies at the heart of Our future

The People and OD strategy will lay out how we ensure that our University is a great place to work, a place where all colleagues have the opportunity to thrive and develop professionally, within an inclusive culture that enables us all to contribute in a meaningful way to delivering our University’s vision.

Based on what I’ve heard so far, and in collaboration with the People and OD leadership team, I have put together a framework for this strategy which I am sharing with you now and warmly welcome your thoughts, ideas and suggestions.

This is just the starting point and over the coming weeks there will be more opportunities for you to contribute.

As I highlighted in my Viewpoint blog shortly after I joined the University, what we deliver is important, but how we deliver it is also critical.  Through our work we will bring to life our University’s values - knowledge, wisdom, humanity, academic freedom, courage and pioneering spirit.

It is also clear that whilst the Directorate of People and OD will lead on certain initiatives, the People and OD strategy will be delivered by all of us working together.

So please do take a few moments to share your thoughts to help shape our future together.

Best wishes

Adèle MacKinlay, Director of People and Organisational Development
