Sample food and drink at our Fairtrade Fortnight event

25 Feb 2022

Come along to our Food on Campus event on Thursday, 3 March from 10am until 2pm in The Drum, University Place

Fairtrade Fortnight

Food on Campus are joining Fairtrade to celebrate their Choose The World You Want festival, part of Fairtrade Fortnight, from 21 February to 6 March 2022.

Along with some of our Fairtrade partners, including Tony’s Chocolonely and One Water, we will be holding a free in-person event on Thursday, 3 March with talks, competitions, and of course food and drink sampling!

Did you know that all our coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water, juices, bananas and sugar on campus are Fairtrade? Our coffee is Fairtrade, organic and Rainforest Alliance certified, supporting growers in Peru, Honduras and Uganda. Come along to the event to sample it for yourself.

Everyone can do their bit to choose the world we all want. By choosing Fairtrade, we choose more power and more money in the hands of farmers and workers facing the climate crisis.

A little bit more about Matthew Algie, our coffee supplier

Matthew Algie are coffee masters in Glasgow established for over 150 years and one of the UK’s leading coffee suppliers to cafes. They created a bespoke blend of coffee for Food on Campus, which we launched during Fairtrade Fortnight 2020. Sadly we had to pause this for the past two years but we’re hoping to bring it back due to popular demand this year.

In the meantime, they provide us with great tasting, sustainable Fairtrade coffee, tea and hot chocolate that we serve in all our campus outlets. They know where every bean comes from and their coffee is triple certified, meaning it’s been approved by Fairtrade Foundation, Rainforest Alliance and the Organic Food Federation. You can find out more about Matthew Algie on their website or via their social channels.
