Top rankings for University social media engagement in W100 report

In the quarterly World100 social media report, our University has been ranked first worldwide for two engagement categories

Posts on Instagram and Twitter following Marcus Rashford’s honorary degree award performed best out of the full membership of worldwide universities in the network between October to December 2021 (Q4). An estimated four million users saw University content in the three days around the degree award, with three million impressions from one tweet alone.

The report also highlights high engagement levels and channel growth rates above member benchmarks in the final period of 2021.

Our University’s main corporate channels engage across multiple audiences and have a combined audience of over 850,000 followers/fans. They are managed by the social media team based within the Directorate of Communications, Marketing and Student Recruitment.
