Call for papers - School learning networks: current experiences and future hopes

Research based academic papers are invited on the theme of school learning networks
Learning networks are becoming increasingly central to education policy conceptualisations, design and implementation around the world. Professional collaboration, economies of scale, the pooling of resources, sharing innovations, finding common solutions to common problems are all said to flow from networked approaches within the school system.
There are many questions also. What forms of networking exactly will bring such benefits? How are networks best established? What will encourage the teaching profession to engage with learning networks? What can networking mean for the pupil? There is even disquiet. Are 'learning' networks really about learning, or are they more about new government agendas? Can school networks replace central support services for schools? What will happen if schools opt out of their area networks?
If learning networks are indeed to fulfil their promise of a dynamic and progressive form of delivering for pupils these questions will need to find answers. This conference creates an opportunity to address these themes.
The programme will include contributions from international speakers.
