Radical Readers December book group: Beyond Black History Month
08 Dec 2021
Black History Month might be assigned to October – but the aims of the campaign, including awareness and recognition, remain pertinent year-round
To recognise this, in our next session on Thursday, 9 December at 6pm, Radical Readers will be discussing chapters from 'Black Resistance to British Policing' by Adam Elliott-Cooper. The themes of institutional racism, structural oppression and resistance will form the basis of our conversation.
This session will focus primarily on Chapter 2 (Into the twenty-first century: resistance, respectability and Black deaths in policy custody) and Chapter 6 (Futures of Black resistance: disruption, rebellion, abolition).
University of Manchester staff and students can access the book free via institutional access on manchesterhive.
