Car parks update: preparing for pay-as-you-go scheme
17 Nov 2021
Equipment and software upgrades are underway in preparation for the January 2022 launch of the car parks pay-as-you-go scheme
The installation of the new car parking equipment, which will enable pay-as-you-go parking across all University car parks, is underway, with old barriers at some areas having been removed in preparation for the new installations.
What you need to do
We are now asking that all permit holders at the Aquatics, Core Technology Facility and Incubator, Dover Street car park, Front and Rear Quad parking, and the North Campus loop road and Arches ensure they are set up on the new system before the Christmas closure, ahead of the go live date on 4 January 2022. If you park in these car parks, and have not yet visited the Permit Office to be set up on the new system, please do so before we close for the Christmas break to ensure your access will still be possible when you return to work in January.
The office is open between 8.30am-12.30pm/1.30pm-3pm Monday to Friday and is located in Room G.002 Beyer Building.
Software upgrade: Tuesday, 23 November 2021
As part of the installation, the car park systems will undergo a software upgrade on Tuesday, 23 November. The barriers at the car parks will be raised for most of the day.
If you arrive before the barriers have been raised, please swipe in as normal, and even if the barriers are raised when you leave, please swipe out. This will prevent issues with access on following days.
If you have any issues with your permit access, please call 0161 275 2231 or visit the Permit Office between 8.30am-12.30pm/1.30pm-3pm Monday to Friday.
