Unfunded monograph authors: enter our competition to win Open Access funding
15 Nov 2021
You can enter if you will soon be publishing a monograph, or if you published one on or after 1 January 2021.
About the competition
Unfunded monograph authors from any University faculty can enter the Library’s Open Access (OA) monograph competition, as long as they will soon be publishing a monograph or published one on or after 1 January 2021.
Winners will receive funding from the Library to make their monographs OA. The Library will arrange this directly with the winners’ publishers.
How to enter
To enter, submit a paragraph no more than 300 words long explaining why your research will benefit from OA publication to uml.openaccess@manchester.ac.uk by 25 March 2022. Please include your publisher and your proposed or actual date of publication.
After the closing date, entries will be judged by a panel led by Neil Humphrey, Associate Dean for Research in Humanities.
The Library’s Research Services team will contact successful applicants by 27 May 2022. Winners’ publishers will need to submit their OA fee invoice to the Library on or before 29 July 2022. The Research Services team will then arrange OA with the winners’ publishers directly.
If you have a question about the competition, email uml.openaccess@manchester.ac.uk
A reminder about transformative agreements
Remember that authors from all disciplines can benefit from the Library’s transformative agreements with various publishers. Check the Library website to see if the Library has an agreement with your publisher which allows you to publish your journal article OA immediately at no extra cost.
