Help support a local foodbank for women
06 Dec 2021
Emmeline’s Pantry is a Manchester foodbank for women in need. It's the last few days of their Christmas Appeal and they need donations more than ever.
Like many other charities Emmeline's have seen a dramatic increase in client numbers. In March 2020 they had around 12 women a week to support now they have around 37 a week. They used to get six new referrals a month, now they are getting around six each week.
At Christmas, each woman receives two weeks food and provisions for them and their families over Christmas, this includes everything they will need to make a special meal so that they have something special to look forward to. They will also receive a brand new pair of pyjamas and a gift set. Each child receives a pair of brand new pyjamas, eight brand new toys and wrapping paper if needed. Nothing is wrapped and all items are chosen by the women themselves, so they can get what they need and what their children like.
The last day for Christmas donations is the 10th of December.
How can you help?
- Buy items from their Amazon wishlist
- Donate online
- Drop off donations at their centre in Chorlton (Monday – Thursday). Address by request via emmelinespantryparlour@gmail.com. Donations can include long life food, Christmas treats, unworn clothes with tags for women and children (all ages). They will be open on Sunday the 5th of Dec from 11am to 4pm if a weekend drop off is easier.
- Emmeline’s have just been chosen as a Co-Op charity for the next 12 months. For Co-op shoppers that means you can select them as your charity through your membership card. This means every time you shop they receive donations.
- Donate regularly to Emmeline’s via the University’s Payroll Giving Scheme (regular monthly or one off donations)
