World Menopause Day
18 Oct 2021
Today is World Menopause Day, which is held every year on 18 October
The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of the menopause and the support options available for improving health and wellbeing.
The menopause is a natural part of the ageing process for women. Half of our community goes through the menopause and yet, it’s rarely discussed. At Manchester, we are committed to providing an inclusive and supportive working environment for all colleagues in which we can all thrive professionally and personally.
- Read our guidance for managers on supporting employees with the menopause
We also have a Yammer support group for staff experiencing the menopause.
If you can’t make our dedicated menopause webinar today then check out these facts about menopause.
Over the new few months we will be introducing more resources for employees and managers. Watch this space!
In the meantime, we have five copies of the recent book, ‘Cracking the Menopause while keeping yourself together’ by Mariella Frostrup and Alice Smellie for the five best ideas on how we can reduce the perceived stigma of menopause in the workplace and support colleagues who are going through it. Send your ideas to Vanessa.Cowan@manchester.ac.uk.
