Edinburgh Marathon runner seeks sponsorship to raise funds for hearing dog training

On Sunday 27 May I shall be running (staggering after 23 miles) around Edinburgh hoping to raise money for a very good cause.

The event is the Edinburgh Marathon (26.2 miles of scenic, hilly fun!) and I am running to raise money for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, a charity that trains dogs to alert their deaf owners to sounds such as the telephone, doorbell or smoke alarm. Most dogs are selected from rescue centres, giving unwanted dogs useful and happy lives to the benefit of deaf people. This will be my third marathon after completing Blackpool and Nottingham.

So please sponsor me now! Any amounts will be gratefully received. If you gift aid it, even more money goes to the good cause. My fundraising page is on the Just Giving website at:

I am running under my married name (Lavin) but the sponsorship forms are in the name of Schofield (working name).

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Hearing Dogs for Deaf People will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Hearing Dogs receives no government funding and relies solely on the generosity of individuals and organisations in order to keep helping deaf people and unwanted dogs.

Please help in whatever way you can. It costs £5,000 to sponsor a hearing dog throughout its working life, while £1 pays for a toothbrush to ensure puppies and dogs in training have healthy teeth and beautiful breath!

Many thanks
