New Vodafone tariffs and removal of short code dialling

All University mobile phones and devices are moving to new Vodafone tariffs on Wednesday 15 September 2021. Short codes for University mobile numbers will stop working on this date.
If you have a University device you will be transferred to a new Vodafone tariff comparable to your current one. Vodafone will send you a text message the day before your transfer to confirm it – you do not need to do anything as a result.
The short code dialling function for University mobiles is being removed to make Wi-Fi calling possible. Although we don’t yet have a date from Vodafone when this will be enabled, it means that mobile phone users will be able to dial other users without using the fixed network.
Short codes for University mobile phone numbers are 7 digits long and always start 77 – they will stop working on Wednesday 15 September 2021. Short codes for University landline numbers (extension numbers) are 5 digits long and start with 5 or 6. These are unaffected when dialling from a University landline but will no longer work when dialling from a University mobile - you will instead have to dial the full (external) number.

The new Vodafone tariffs have been available to new customers since 1 September 2021. The IT Services website has been updated to reflect the new tariff information.
