Learn, Lead, Progress – managing a hybrid team
08 Sep 2021
Effective management of Hybrid Working teams means you see benefits like increased productivity and collaboration, better work-life balance, improved internal and external talent pools and more
Here’s where you’ll get all the information you need on Hybrid Working.
When managing a Hybrid team you have several considerations to make in line with the University’s principles:
- Is someone eligible and which category do your staff fit into?
- What is the effect on staff and the service offer?
- Is the remote working environment suitable?
- How will teams communicate effectively?
- How do you encourage collaboration within a team?
- How do you ensure everyone is treated fairly?
- What are the local principles for the team and how are these established?
- How can you provide full management support to your team?
You can begin the process using the Hybrid Working Team Charter Exercise and capture your Team Charter. You will also want to set communication principles and agree how you will have effective team and individual conversations.
There are additional resources to support you:
- Shared Lessons from Hybrid Working (peer workshops)
- Managing Hybrid Working Successfully (virtual course)
- Hybrid Working reading list (The University of Manchester)
Hybrid working in Professional Services is being trialled between June 2021 and August 2022. During this period, the Working Smarter, Living Better project board will be assessing, refining and co-developing our approach to hybrid working – with your feedback! Don’t forget to share your experiences with us at hybrid@manchester.ac.uk.
