Frontline: Saving Lives in War, Disaster and Disease is published in September
Dr Tony Redmond OBE, co-founder and co-director of the University's Humanitarian Conflict Response Institute (HCRI) and Emeritus Professor of International Emergency Medicine, will talk about his new book at a special event hosted by local booksellers, E J Morten on 28 September.
'Frontline: Saving Lives in War, Disaster and Disease' will be published at the end of September by HarperNorth and gives a honest account of the physical, mental and social toll that emergency medicine has on those who choose to do it.
Dr Redmond was most recently involved with Manchester's Nightingale Hospital where he was Director. He is also the founder of the UK-Med, an NGO that responds to global healthcare emergencies, and has worked with organisations including the UN, WHO and the Department for International Development.
'An evening with Dr Tony Redmond OBE' will take place on 28 September, from 7.30pm to 10.00pm at Didsbury Baptist Church, Beaver Road, Manchester M20 6SX.
