Professor wins prestigious science writing award

Professor Sheena Cruickshank has won the Association of British Science Writers Dr Katharine Giles Award 2021 for best popular article written by a scientist or engineer

The Association of British Science Writers is the UK society for science writers, science journalists and science communicators. Their annual awards recognise excellence in science journalism and writing across mainstream and specialist media.

Sheena won for her article Inflammation: the key factor that explains vulnerability to severe COVID, published by The Conversation. 

On her award win, Sheena said: "I am incredibly honoured to receive this recognition. I really feel its important to share the latest research with as many as possible, and help debunk myths, and never has this been more important than now."
