Rescheduling of postponed graduation ceremonies update
30 Jun 2021
Over the past 18 months our University had to make the difficult decision to postpone in-person ceremonies for the graduating Class of 2020, and for this summer’s upcoming graduating Class of 2021 due to the pandemic
We’re pleased to update our University is now planning for ceremonies here in Manchester next year. Ceremonies will take place in either Spring 2022 or Summer 2022, taking into consideration the latest UK government advice at the time. Both graduating cohorts whose ceremonies were postponed are being informed of this update by our Division of Development and Alumni Relations.
The exact time frames for individual cohorts are still to be determined, but we will continue to keep staff and graduates updated as further details come together, so everyone has plenty of time to plan.
These rescheduled ceremonies will be for:
- graduates of the Class of 2020, who missed out on the opportunity to attend their graduation ceremonies in July and December last year, and;
- those who are due to graduate this summer.
The rescheduled ceremonies to be held next year will run in addition to the usual, scheduled ceremonies that will also be running for our Class of 2022.
The virtual ceremonies for our Summer 2021 graduates are scheduled to take place in the week commencing 2 August 2021, with a few exceptions taking place earlier in July due to early completion for students on those particular programmes, and graduates should be receiving more details on these events from their School soon.
