Find out more about the benefits of coaching and mentoring
Learning in the workplace can be achieved in many ways. Two great options at our University are through structured coaching or mentoring.
‘Learn from someone who wants to see you GROW’
Coaching
Coaching is a one-to-one relationship, where a coach can help you move from discussion to action. The coach doesn’t need to be an expert in your development need, because it isn’t about telling you what to do or how to do it. Instead, coaching is about allowing you to explore your own ideas and solutions, and put these into practice with support and a place for reflection.
Mentoring
Mentoring is also a one-to-one relationship, however it is different from coaching in that the mentor is a more experienced person, so can be more advisory for you while still using the same skills as coaching.
