Debate: The Media and the War on Terror

One of the three international debates on Russia and the West: Media, Democracy and Conflict
Prominent journalists and scholars in Russian studies are to gather at the Frontline Club, London on 5 April to discuss rising concerns over press freedom in Russia and the West under the conditions of the "War on terror".
Academics, students, journalists and members of public are welcome to attend.
Professor Stephen Hutchings from the School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures of The University of Manchester has brought together journalists and academics from Russia and the UK in a bid to raise awareness of issues surrounding media, democracy and conflict in the former Soviet state as well as in the West.
The gathering is one of three debates on Russian media culture organised by Professor Hutchings. Two have already taken place at The University of Manchester in February and in the University of Birmingham in March.
The debate 'The Media and the War on Terror' will take place on 5 April 2005, from 7 to 11 pm, at the Frontline Club, London.
