Alliance MBS Honorary Professor appointed Royal Society Fellow

Alliance MBS and University of Manchester Honorary Professor Andy Haldane, who steps down next month as Chief Economist at the Bank of England, has received a Fellowship from the Royal Society.
Professor Andy Haldane is one of more than 50 scientists from across the world to join the Society as new Fellows. All were selected for their exceptional contributions to science.
In addition to his contribution to the Bank of England, he has also led the government’s Industrial Strategy Council and in 2009 co-founded Pro Bono Economics, a charity dedicated to using economics to empower the social sector. As well as taking up his role at AMBS, later this year Mr Haldane is also joining the Royal Society as Chief Executive.
Sir Adrian Smith, President of the Royal Society, said: “Our new Fellows are all at the forefronts of their fields from molecular genetics and cancer research to tropical open ecosystems and radar technology. It is an absolute pleasure and honour to have them join us.”He is one of more than 50 scientists from across the world to join the Society as new Fellows.
