IT delivery governance team joins the University’s Strategic Change Office
06 May 2021
Consolidating the University’s change portfolio to help deliver our strategic plan
A number of IT Services colleagues working in project management, the project management office (PMO) and demand management have moved over to the Strategic Change Office (SCO) in the Directorate of Planning.
The move, which aligns to the reshaping PS initiative and is in support of the University’s strategic plan, will help to achieve increased consistency and quality in our change delivery approaches.
An initial organisational structure for the SCO is available.
From Tuesday 4 May all large IT change projects except the Research Lifecycle Programme (RLP) and Estates projects will be project managed by the SCO. The prioritisation of change projects will be managed by the Strategic Change Sub Committee (SCSC) and its existing sub-groups. IT Services will continue to provide technical resources to deliver the projects, and continue managing live service and improvements such as patching and upgrading, including small scale IT projects.
The processes for creating and managing projects and improvements to services will remain essentially unchanged for the time being but will evolve over the coming year.
Thank you to everyone involved in the transition for their cooperation and professionalism.
Demand management
In terms of IT demand management, the existing ways of working and processes remain in place for now. Your first point of contact for talking to someone about a request for new strategic IT work is the appropriate Strategic Demand Manager, who are aligned to the University’s Governance Groups. Details are available on the IT Services website:
The SCO are introducing strategic roadmaps to help understand and manage the demand for change projects over the coming two to three years.
