Guide to inclusive language
10 Mar 2021
An updated guide to using inclusive language which embraces and celebrates our diverse community of staff and students is now available on StaffNet
We have developed the guide following feedback from colleagues which suggested they would like more advice on which terms and language to use.
You can find it on our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion site:
The guidance outlines how to use inclusive language to avoid biases, slang or expressions that can exclude certain groups based on age, race, ethnicity, disability, gender or sexual orientation.
A link to the guidance has also been added to our house style guide, which offers helpful advice for anyone writing on behalf of the University.
