Staff Networks spotlight: women's groups
24 Feb 2021
With International Women's Day taking place on 8 March, we look at the various women's groups available for staff to join
Under the Staff Network Group Umbrella we have a number of different networks which connect women and focus on the careers and experiences of our female members of staff.
Find out more details and learn about their activities and their upcoming events and meetings:
- Women in Biology, Medicine and Health (WiBMH)
- Women in Cancer
- Women in Environmental Sciences (WiES)
- Women in Physics
- Women Professors Network
- Women Researchers Network
Each of the groups have their own remit and engage in different activities throughout the year. These vary from raising awareness of barriers to progression for female staff in their particular area; to inviting guest speakers to deliver speeches and seminars; to contributing to the various Athena Swan SAT teams in different faculties and departments.
All of the groups are always looking for new members, input and ideas, so take a look what they are doing and see how you can be involved. They are fully inclusive and welcome input and participation from all staff members and gender identities.
With International Women’s Day taking place on 8 March and the theme of our Diversity Calendar focussing on gender equality there will be plenty of associated activities for everyone to participate in. These will be via the groups and wider evernts at our University – look out for more details over the next two weeks on StaffNet.
