Revisions to risk assessments for On-Campus Teaching and Learning Activities
13 Jan 2021
The Generic Risk Assessments for On-Campus Teaching and Learning Activities have been updated to reflect the changing public health picture locally and nationally
Those responsible for managing or delivering teaching and learning activities should use the updated Generic Risk Assessments and review their local versions to ensure that they remain appropriate.
The number of cases of COVID-19 is rising in Manchester, and the most common variant in circulation now is the same as in London/South East. The best method to reduce risk is still to follow the “hands, face, space” policy, ensure stringent compliance with the COVID-secure measures and continue to be diligent to all processes, including reporting.
When reviewing your RA, please follow UK Government guidance: “assume anyone using the campus facilities has the virus”, and consider any additional local risks and what mitigating actions are needed.
Heads of School and local Health and Safety contact must review and approve any additional actions.
Summary of changes:
- Description of the new variant of COVID-19 (all risk assessments)
- Minor reformatting to highlight areas that may require additional mitigation by schools (Labs and Workshops)
- Addition of action on schools to liaise with Faculty Estates teams before using offices (121 Meetings and Academic Advising)
