Big Saturday: Blast Off! at The Manchester Museum
26 Feb 2007
Activities for National Science and Engineering Week
Saturday 10 March, 11am-4pm
Come along to The Manchester Museum on Saturday 10 March and have a go at a range of activities as part of National Science and Engineering Week.
Step into the Jodrell Bank Mobile Planetarium (a large silver dome, 5m in diameter) and as the lights go down see thousands of stars light up the dome. See if you can spot Orion or The Plough, learn about day and night and hear a constellation story, such as that of Perseus and Andromeda.
Take part in Physics Tricks for Kids and create a tornado in a bottle, power a rocket with an alkaseltzer and discover why physics is relevant to everyday life and so much fun.
There will also be interactive workshops with the Royal Northern College of Music and the opportunity to find out about the Earth and Beyond with the Children's University, which links research at the University with KS2 curriculum - you can explore their website and get some great giveaways.
With Jodrell Bank Observatory and The University of Manchester's Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences and Children's University.
National Science and Engineering Week (formerly National Science Week) is an opportunity for people of all ages to take part in science, engineering and technology activities and is coordinated by the BA (British Association for the Advancement of Science), funded by the Department of Trade and Industry and working in partnership with the Engineering and Technology Board.
