Applications for Manchester Access Programme 2021 now open
11 Nov 2020
The Manchester Access Programme is our flagship targeted widening access scheme for local Year 12 students
Applications are now open for our Manchester Access Programme 2021.
The aim of the programme is to make sure that talented, capable students can benefit from a university education, regardless of their background.
Applicants who meet our academic and background criteria are supported to achieve entry to either The University of Manchester, or another research-intensive university, through the completion of a portfolio of work demonstrating specific knowledge and skills.
MAP was successfully adapted to be delivered online in 2020 and we plan to deliver entirely online in 2021.
If students successfully complete the programme, there are three main benefits:
- Students will receive advice and guidance for their UCAS application and personal statement and will the opportunity of an early decision on their application (if applying for The University of Manchester).
- Students will receive the Undergraduate Access Scholarship (currently £1000) in their first year of study at UoM. Students with a household income of below £25,000 per year will receive the award for each year of their study.
- Students are eligible for a reduced offer of up to two A-level grades (or equivalent, depending on the qualifications you study) below the standard entry offer
MAP applications are now open and will close on Sunday, 13 December 2020 at 11.59pm. Applications are not considered on a first-come first-served basis, and applicants will be notified about the outcome of their application in March 2021.
The MAP team are currently delivering information webinars to schools, colleges and community centres in Greater Manchester. If you/someone you know would like to book a MAP talk, then please get in touch.
