Updated guidance for colleagues identified as clinically extremely vulnerable

Dear colleagues,

As the new COVID-19  National Restrictions take effect today (Thursday, 5 November 2020) the Government has published updated guidance for anyone who has been identified as clinically extremely vulnerable.  This strongly advises anyone falling into this category to work from home.

The safety and wellbeing of our staff and students continues to be our top priority and this new Government guidance reinforces our own University approach which has been in place for some time, which encourages those who are extremely clinically vulnerable to work from home wherever possible and to talk to their line manager about suitable working arrangements.

The updated Government guidance says that if you are extremely clinically vulnerable and cannot work from home you should not attend work during this period of National Restrictions.  If you are in this position you should talk to your line manager about the options available which may include being placed on furlough leave, which has been extended until March 2021 or using Coronavirus Special Leave.

Colleagues who live with someone who is clinically extremely vulnerable and have been asked to work on campus should talk to their line manager about any concerns they have about returning to work on campus.
