New COVID-19 safety course for students

Blackboard course with tips and guidance
To supplement our existing safety guidance for students, we are launching a new COVID-19 Blackboard course for students called ‘COVID19 Health & Safety’.
This course will provide students with information, advice and guidance to help keep themselves and others safe, and minimise the spread of COVID-19. It has been produced by the Institute of Teaching and Learning, in collaboration with experts from our Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, the Students’ Union and our Campus Re-opening group.
The course explains the latest knowledge on COVID-19 and how it spreads, as well as how students can help to slow the spread of the virus. It also details the help and support available to students should they be affected by COVID-19 (for example, if they have to self-isolate).
This course will start to be available to students in Blackboard from Friday 30 October and we are strongly encouraging them all to complete it. However, it will only be mandatory for students who are found to have breached safety guidelines. They will be required to complete and pass the course as part of the University’s sanctions and disciplinary procedures. Fortunately, almost all of our students continue to act responsibly – those flouting restrictions are very much in the minority.
Students can find the course in the ‘My Communities’ section of their Blackboard course listing. Click here to see a preview of the course (we recommend using Chrome or Firefox to preview the course).
To complete the course, students will have to work through all the content – simply skipping to the end quiz won’t count as a completion. Further information and guidance will be sent to Schools shortly.
