Open meeting: Race Matters at Manchester

02 Nov 2020

Today, Monday 2 November, 3pm - 4pm

Nalin Thakkar

Colleagues and students are invited to attend an open meeting with Professor Nalin Thakkar, Vice-President for Social Responsibility today, Monday 2 November, 3pm - 4pm using the online platform Zoom.

At our University we want to make sure that no matter what your sex, gender identity, ethnicity, disability, age, religion or belief, you will thrive, be treated with dignity and respect and feel that you belong.

The terrible events in the United States over the summer focussed our efforts and led to the establishment of a Rapid Response Group to look at the range of existing work being undertaken and identify any gaps. This group has now produced a report.

The actions that are outlined in our new Race Matters at Manchester report will form part of our wider equality, diversity and inclusion strategy and we are providing staff and students with the opportunity to ask questions about it at this open meeting.

Staff and students who have registered for this event have been sent the Zoom link via the email address they registered with. Places are limited to 300 people. If you are unable to attend the event, you can watch the livestream (below) or we will make a recording available on StaffNet to watch later.

• Professor Nalin Thakkar – Vice President for Social Responsibility (Chair)
