Greater Manchester will move to local COVID alert level 3 from Friday
21 Oct 2020
The COVID alert level will be reviewed by at least Wednesday, 11 November
The Government has announced that Greater Manchester will move to local COVID alert level 3: very high from Friday and will be reviewed by at least Wednesday, 11 November.
The guidance for local alert level 3: very high states that universities should stay open.
We have extensive measures in place on campus to meet the requirements for universities, which means that we are not required to make any changes to teaching and learning as a result of the change in alert level, and will continue to deliver essential face-to-face teaching. We are due to review our current situation on Friday, 23 October. The infection rates amongst our students have fallen dramatically and staff infections remain very much lower.
You can travel into and out of very high alert level areas for work or study, but unless required by your line manager to work on campus, you should continue to work from home. Students and staff who are defined by the NHS as being highly vulnerable should discuss arrangements with their tutor, academic advisor or line manager.
I very much hope that you are staying well as we all adapt to this prolonged change to the way we live and work. Please remember that we have support in place for students and staff to help with wellbeing.
