February is LGBT History Month
07 Feb 2007
A nationwide initiative to celebrate the lives and achievements of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people
February is LGBT History Month - LGBT people have often hidden their sexuality from society for fear of retribution or have had their achievements ignored by others. LGBT History Month aims to redress this through a calendar of events themed around gay history.
To celebrate LGBT History Month, the LGBT Staff Network Committee has invited three guest speakers to share their thoughts and experiences. These three events are open to any member of the University community. The events are:
- Professor Laura Doan, Professor of Cultural History and Sexuality Studies in the School of Arts, Histories and Cultures, and co-director of the Centre for the Study of Sexuality and CultureThursday 22 February 2007 (12 noon-1.30pm), Roscoe Building, Room 3.5
'Which is the rooster, which is the hen? Female Masculinities in the Gay 20s'
