Go Wild at The Manchester Museum

Events for February 2007 half term

This half term, go Wild about Wildlife at The Manchester Museum and enjoy activities linked to our Wild Britain exhibition, including family trails and handling stuffed animals and other objects from the Museum's Natural History collection.

Enjoy a wildlife adventure on Monday 12 February with an interactive tour of the Mammal Gallery (5yrs+, 1.30, 3pm, please book); watch the conservation team in action on Tuesday 13 and Thursday 15 February (5yrs+, 1-3pm); have a happy hedgehog day on Wednesday 14 February (1-4pm) with storytelling especially for under 5s and their families, activities and hedgehog facts; or take part in the nest box challenge with Wild About Manchester and the BBC on Friday 16 February (all ages, 10am-4pm) where you can make a bird box to take home with you, help build a giant bird's nest big enough to sit in, make garden decorations, beautiful birds and bird feeders, take part in rock painting and object handling and meet the Microscopic Animal Enthusiast.

On Saturday 17 Feb (11am-4pm), come along to the Museum for the Big Saturday Dinosaur Day, for budding palaeontologists of all ages. Bring you own fossil to be identified, take part in dinosaur drawing with Eric the Velociraptor who is on display for the first time in ten years, handle objects and minerals at the handling table, learn about our Tenontosaurus conservation project and take part in Plesiosaur reconstruction activities and fossil rubbing. There will also be a family talk and gallery tour with Phil Manning and music from the RNCM.
