Volunteering and Social Justice Fair goes digital
15 Oct 2020
Encourage our students to get involved – there’s volunteering opportunities at 60 cultural, environmental, health, sport and social inclusion organisations and the chance find out about our Stellify Award
The University’s Volunteering Team will be hosting their very first digital version of the annual Volunteering and Social Justice Fair next week (20 – 22 October).
We’re asking colleagues to encourage our students to get involved by registering on Volunteer Hub and RSVP’ing to our Facebook event.
Recognising that community volunteering is now more important than ever, the team have re-designed their event to ensure they can continue to link students to hundreds of socially-distanced and remote volunteer opportunities. It will be held online using a combination of the University volunteering website and video-messaging platform Zoom.
The digital fair will be a great chance for new and returning students to talk to a diverse range of charities and not-for-profit organisations. For the first time, the fair will take place across three days (running 11am – 2pm each day) to allow students more time to meet with multiple organisations and find the perfect volunteer role for them.
Over 60 different organisations will be hosting Zoom sessions at the digital fair from a wide range of sectors including cultural, environmental, health, sport and social inclusion - both from the wider community and within the University and Students’ Union. Each organisation provides a different way for students to meet new people, explore their community and play a role in tackling local and global social justice issues.
Alongside volunteering opportunities, students will also be able to find out about the University-led activities which count towards the prestigious Stellify Award.
