Cycle to Work Scheme
18 Jun 2020
There has never been a better time to swap to cycling and our Cycle to Work scheme can help.
The University’s Cycle to Work Scheme helps you access electric bikes, mobility bikes, higher quality bikes and safety equipment. Under the HMRC rules of the scheme, you just need to use the cycle to get to work for at least 50% of the cycle’s usage. This can be for part of the journey, eg. to a train station. In the interim you can use if for leisure and exercise to look after your physical wellbeing.
There has never been a better time to swap to cycling:
- Easy to maintain social distancing
- Strengthens the immune system
- Keeps communities pollution free
- Save 25-39% on the cost of new bike and e-bikes
- Save 25-39% on components to fix existing bikes
- Save 25-39% on safety clothing and security equipment
The University provides a limit of £2,820 on purchasing bikes and is partnered with Cyclescheme. They have a network of over 2000 independent cycle stores nationwide for you to select a bike and safety equipment that is right for your lifestyle.
It’s so easy to save with the Cycle to Work scheme. You simply choose a bike from over 2,000 retailers, hire it for 12 months from Cyclescheme via salary exchange payments that help you save 25-39% on a new bike for work, then when your Hire Agreement and salary exchange ends, you can keep your Cyclescheme package by making a small additional payment back to Cyclescheme.
The full eligibility criteria and how to apply can all be found on our Cycle to Work pages.
