Pregnant women required for Babylab study.
24 Jan 2008
Volunteers should be less then five months pregnant.
We are currently launching a new study in the School of Psychological Sciences? Babylab, looking at maternal nutrition during pregnancy with a focus on cognitive development in infants after birth. We are hoping to recruit around 200 pregnant women from the Greater Manchester area.
Participation would involve two home visits (or alternatively visits to the Babylab) at five and eight months during pregnancy. In the second phase of the project, following the birth of your baby, you would be invited to visit the Babylab on a few occasions, where your infant would take part in a number of tasks to assess their development. Our data collection with both mums and babies is non-intrusive, as it is based solely on questionnaires and observational methods.
We would like to ask any members of staff or students who are currently less than five months pregnant to contact us if they would like to take part in this study or would like more information. You are welcome to bring this to the attention of pregnant friends or family members who reside within Greater Manchester. However, for methodological reasons, we need to exclude women experiencing multiple gestations (e.g. expecting twins) from this study.
