Update on furlough leave
13 May 2020
A message from Director of Human Resources Karen Heaton following the Government’s announcement
Dear colleagues
You will have seen the Government’s announcement yesterday (12 May) to extend the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and furlough leave until the end of October 2020.
We will be taking a closer look at the detail behind the Government’s announcement, but in the meantime I can reassure University colleagues who are currently on furlough leave until 30 June that they will continue to receive their full salary and there will be no financial detriment to them and no change to their terms and conditions during this period.
As we continue to develop plans for a phased return to campus guided by Government advice, we will give colleagues on furlough leave as much notice as possible of when we need you to return to work, usually at least one weeks’ notice.
There is guidance for those colleagues on furlough leave and their line managers and a set of furlough leave frequently asked questions available on StaffNet. We are also sending regular emails to colleagues who are on furlough leave to help them remain connected with our University. If you have any further questions please contact your line manager or HR Partner in the first instance.
Best wishes
Karen Heaton
