Worldwide cover automatically in place for travel on University business.
Worldwide travel insurance cover is now automatically in place for anyone travelling on University business (with a small number of exceptions as detailed below).
It is no longer necessary to complete a Business Travel Insurance Form, and routine business travel will not be charged out to users. At the same time there has been a significant improvement in the benefits available.

Travel on University business is defined as travel that is legitimately chargeable to University funds (whether or not the travel costs are actually charged to the University).
Exceptions to the automatic cover are:
- Anyone working for University contractors (including external consultants)
- Students undertaking study or work placements (students attending course-related field trips or meetings/conferences are automatically covered)
- Anyone:
- over 75 years of age planning to spend a period abroad of more than 30 days
- planning to spend a period abroad of more than one year - Anyone whilst acting as pilot or crew of an aircraft or other aerial device
(Cover can be extended on request to the Insurance Office) - Anyone travelling against doctors' advice
