Find out more about our Wellbeing Champions

Our team of over 100 Wellbeing Champions have been supporting colleagues to maintain their wellbeing while working from home
There are many wellbeing activities going on across the University from virtual events, challenges and simple ways to connect people even when they can’t meet face to face. Champions are helping colleagues with wellbeing newsletters, top tips, suggestions for learning opportunities and inspirational ideas.
Teams are making good use of technology – colleagues in Electrical and Electronic Engineering are holding daily virtual coffee mornings and a Friday virtual pub complete with pub quiz, all via Zoom. The department of Teaching, Learning and Student Development have similarly set up a catch up space on Blackboard Collaborate, where staff members can come together at 11am each day for a tea or coffee break and catch up informally.
Wellbeing Champions in HR are helping staff to get creative and stay connected by sharing their colourful rainbow pictures with each other via their Yammer group. They are also continuing with their steps challenge that began before the move towards homeworking – encouraging everyone to stay active in a social distancing manner!
In the School of Biological Sciences one team has set up a regular ‘brew chat’ where colleagues can drop in to connect and have a drink and a chat that isn’t necessarily work related. They are using Slack to communicate, with a dedicated wellbeing chat thread to share information, articles and inspiration.
Over in the Careers Service, the team have set up a WhatsApp group to share music suggestions to get each other through the day.
Thank you to all our Wellbeing Champions for their work to support wellbeing at this time.
