Network downtime on 13 and 14 April

IT Services planned network maintenance announcement
On Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 April, there will be approximately 15 minutes loss of connectivity on each day, to the University network. This will affect access to services connected to the University network, including Wi-Fi, wired network access, email, Blackboard, My Manchester and more.
We’re expecting this to happen at some point in the afternoon, however we can’t guarantee a specific time.
IT Services colleagues will be closely monitoring the network during and after the work, to ensure all services return as expected.
Why are we doing this work?
As you may be aware, the University is undergoing an extensive programme of improvements to the University network, to enhance the wired and Wi-Fi network for our staff and students.
Several weeks ago, we planned for network maintenance to take place during the Easter break. Based on feedback from colleagues, this time was chosen as we expected there to be fewer people on campus or accessing online services. Due to the closure of non-essential buildings and ongoing coronavirus (Covid-19) situation since then, we have reduced the work to essential upgrades to our data centre so to minimise the impact to services over the break.
