31 Mar 2020

To ensure that several of the University’s IT services have enough storage space, upgrades are taking place on Saturday 4 and Thursday 9 April

This will affect access to Research Data Storage, P: drives, the electronic software delivery (ESD) service, Library Digital Collections and some shared network drives.

  • Saturday 4 April: At some point between 8am and 9am, Research Data Storage will be unavailable for approximately 15 minutes. In addition, new uploads to the video portal will not be available between 7am and 10am, however existing video content will remain accessible throughout.
  • Thursday 9 April: At some point between 8am and 9am, personal network storage (P: drives), the Electronic Software Delivery service, Library Digital Collections and some shared network drives (you may know these as your G: Drive, S: Drive or similar) will be unavailable for approximately 15 minutes.

While we’re not expecting any further impact, colleagues will be monitoring the services throughout the day to ensure the work completes as expected, and dealing with any issues in the unlikely event they occur.

Other services including the wired and Wi-Fi network, email, GlobalProtect Virtual Private Network, Blackboard, My Manchester and the Campus Solutions Student System are not impacted by this work.
