School of Law Legal Advice Centre.
16 Jan 2008
Free legal advice available by appointment.
The School of Law Legal Advice Centre has now reopened and is currently taking requests for advice. Appointments are held with a qualified practitioner and two law students and are available Monday-Friday at 12.15pm and 1.15pm between the following dates:
- 4 February - 4 March
and - 9 - 18 April
At the discretion of the Centre Solicitor, the LAC offers free legal advice to members of the public, University staff and students on a wide range of matters in the strictest confidence. Advice is provided by student volunteers from the School of Law under the supervision of local lawyers and professionally qualified teaching staff. The advice offered is by letter, following an initial interview, and the time taken between interview and receipt of the approved advice letter will vary, depending on the complexity of the issue, but a two week period is aimed for.
A new feature of the LAC this year will be a limited number of appointments dedicated to Intellectual Property, i.e. the solicitors attending those appointments will have specialist knowledge of this area. Whilst it is envisaged that this would mainly be of interest to staff, you may also know of students who would wish to make enquiries.
If, for any reason, we are unable to provide advice ourselves, we will endeavour to direct you to an alternative source. Please note that we are not in a position to provide advice on any matter which relates to the University.
If you are responsible for any staff without access to email, can you please ensure that they are made aware of this circular.
You can contact the LAC in any of the following ways:
