This advice is correct at the time of publication of this news article. For the latest information, please check Public Health England and the University’s coronavirus website.
Dear colleague
As the UK and other countries continue to respond to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), I know that many of you will be concerned and have many questions about how our University is working on this issue.
That is why we are emailing all staff and students again to update you on the recent steps we have taken and the sources of information you should use.
I also want to stress that, at this time, there are no confirmed cases of staff or students testing positive for the virus and we continue to operate as normal.
The foremost priority for our University is to keep our community safe.
Our response
We are being guided in our approach by the latest advice from Public Health England, the National Health Service and other Government agencies. This is coupled with well-established procedures of our own.
For a number of weeks we have been holding planning meetings to develop our response, which bring together senior colleagues and experts across the full range of our activities which could be impacted by coronavirus.
Information for you
As a member of the University community we will provide you with the best available information.
We have published our own site which links to all of the Government advice. It also has information which is specific to our community, such as advice for teaching staff, and around travel and visas.
If you have a question, please check the latest Government and NHS advice and our own FAQs first. If your question has not been answered by one of these sources, our StaffNet site also has an email address for you to contact. Our incident management team will be meeting regularly and will respond to all queries.
To help us keep everyone safe and to maintain our normal activities, the most important thing that you can do is to follow NHS advice on how to avoid catching or spreading coronavirus.
The University is taking coronavirus extremely seriously and we will continue to communicate with you and make every effort to ensure the safety of our staff and students.
