Director of Communications and Marketing, Sally Sykes to leave the University

Registrar, Secretary and Chief Operating Officer, Patrick Hackett thanks Sally for all she has achieved and wishes her every success
Director of Communications and Marketing, Sally Sykes is leaving the University in April.
Sally will be leaving us on Tuesday, 7 April and will resume her career as an independent interim and consultant in communications and marketing, as well as continue her work as a trustee and officer holder of two charities in health care (patient experience) and the communications profession.
Registrar, Secretary and Chief Operating Officer, Patrick Hackett said: “I am grateful to Sally for her leadership of communications and marketing in Professional Services, where her achievements include bringing focus to the team’s work on a number of high-profile projects like Our future, leading the team to deliver award-winning projects and achieving significant improvements in her team’s results in the 2019 Staff Survey. Sally has also successfully integrated Policy@Manchester into the mainstream of the University’s work.
“In addition she has fostered a much more collegiate way of working across Faculties and Schools, and chaired the pan-University Communications and Marketing Leadership Team very effectively.
“She steered the communications and reputational aspects of a number of challenges for us and the sector and is a respected colleague on the Professional Services Leadership Team.
“I am sure you will join me in wishing Sally every success for her future.”
Sally said: “It’s been a pleasure and a privilege to lead The University of Manchester’s communications and marketing team and community, and I am very proud of what we’ve achieved together.”
Claire Brown, currently Head of University Marketing, will become acting Director of Communications and Marketing on Wednesday, 8 April until we recruit to the permanent position.
